CHURCH BAZAAR The annual bazaar conducted by St. Matthew’s Church was opened in the’ Town Hall by the Mayor, Mr N. W. McGorlick. Mrs F. Fowler was responsible for the success of the whole undertaking. This year she was assisted by Mrs Applegarth. Performers who were outstanding in their efforts were Marie Metzger, Betty Laker, Rose Waddell, I. Hester and Ivan Denton. The Maori party under the leadership of Mr Norman Bradshaw contributed much appreciated items. The accompaniments were shared by Miss Shirley Hart, Mr Norman Bradshaw and Mr Ivan Denton. Others who contributed items were B. Edwards, Mrs McDonald, Misses Jennings, Flossie Edwards, Mary McColl, Rata Coutts and Peter Bates. The stall-holders were: Work, Mesdames Nicol, Haszard and Wiley; vestry, Miss Woods and Mesdames Vincent and Hart; jelly, Mesdames Budd, Webber, Skeggs and Clarke; sweets, Mesdames Hannan and Miller; Cafeteria, Mesdames Cameron, Haywood, Newton and Spencer; cake, Mesdames Fowler, Applegarth and Durham; produce, Mesdames Parsons, White, Barnes and J. Smith. The results of the baby show, which was judged by Mesdames N. W. McGorlick and H. A. Ferguson, were: To six months: Margaret Lithgow 1, lan Deans 2; Peter Heyden (special). Six months to 12 months: Edwin Field 1, Carol Murdock 2, Meria Roderique (special). Section III: Garry Ennis 1, Carol Valentine 2. NATIONAL SAVINGS: The Bluff postmaster reports that once again Bluff has reached its weekly quota for national savings. Yesterday the flag was at the top of the mast for the tenth week in succession.

FINE WEATHER: Fine weather has been experienced at Bluff recently, clear, sunny days following frosty moonlight nights. Between nine and 10 degrees of frost were registered yesterday morning.
