THE WEATHER IN MAY

ABSENCE OF STORMS The month of May was a good open winter month with no exceptionally stormy weather. The first half of the month was dull and there were some good falls of rain, especially on May 7, when .62 of an inch was recorded. The latter half was fairly fine and sunny with some hard frosts, the heaviest being yesterday morning, when 14 degrees were registered. Rain fell on 17 days with a total for the month of 4.75 in, which is .41 of an inch above the average for May. The highest temperature was recorded on May 5, when 70 degrees were registered. On that daj’ there were 7.2 hours of sunshine. A feature of the month was the absence of gales. May 26 was the roughest day of the month, being cold and stormy with falls of hail.
