MORE BEER FOR WORKERS
CANBERRA, May 29. An early relaxation of some of the liquor restrictions imposed early this year are expected by rank and file members of the Labour caucus. Greater supplies of beer will probably be allowed in industrial towns and in the industrial suburbs of the capitals. The increase may later be extended to other areas. Members claim that the beer shortage is causing much dissatisfaction among war and other workers. Statements that since the introduction of beer rationing many people, including troops in camp, were consuming “plong” and other cheap wines greatly to the detriment of their health were made in the House of Representatives yesterday. The Minister of Customs said he would have inquiries made.
