WANTED TO SEE FIRE
CHILDREN START SERIOUS BLAZE (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 29. A boy, aged 10, and a girl, aged 11, have allegedly admitted to the police that they started a fire at Botany, which caused £20,000 worth of damage. The reason they gave for their action was that they wanted to see a fire. Statements made to the police revealed that the children wandered into a works containing plant and wool worth nearly £1,000,000 and set fire to a heap of brown paper near stacks of wool. When powdered wool and other highly inflammable packing ignited there was an explosion and they had to run for their lives before the flames blocked their escape. Because of their age it is unlikely that charges will be preferred against them. The police will probably look to the parents to administer punishment.
