LIEUT.-COLONEL DOBSON PROMOTED

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 29. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced today that Lieuten-ant-Colonel D. Dobson, M.C., had been appointed to command a brigade in the Southern District and had been granted the temporary rank of brigadier. This completed the appointments of commanders made necessary by the large expansion and regrouping of formations which had recently taken place in the New Zealand Army. Brigadier Dobson served throughout the last war with the N.Z.E.F., being awarded the Military Cross. He was appointed to command a battalion of the Canterbury Regiment in October 1940 and has been on full-time service since mobilization. He attended a course at the New Zealand Staff College last year and has been commanding a brigade in an acting capacity for a considerable time before his present appointment.
