BOWLS.— Although difficult conditions had been experienced the season had been satisfactory, stated the annual report of the Gore Bowling Club presented at the annual meeting of the club last night. The petrol restrictions had made it impossible for in-ter-club competitions to be continued, but there had been good competition in club S ameS - VS . XL Mr J. Johnston was chairman at the meeting and 17 members attended. The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr M. Mitchell; vice-president, Mr R. W. Jones; secretary, Mr J. McMath; treasurer, Mr W„. Rassmusson; committee, Messrs C. C. Hall, W. Scobie, E. J. Columb, S. Preece and A. W. Thomson; green supervisor, Mr Preece; selector, Mr Hall; delegates to the Southland Centre and Eastern District Cub-Centre, Messrs Mitchell and Preece; match committee, Messrs Hall and Columb; social committee, Messrs Mitchell, Johnston and McMath; auditor, Mr W. B. Johnston. It was decided that the club competitions be played on the one-life system. MINIATURE RIFLES.—Sixty-four members took part in the weekly shoot of the Gore Miniature Rifle Club last night, when some good scores were registered. The championship button was won by W. Graham, who scored 79.5 off the rifle, C. C. Hall being runner-up with 79.4. F. McKenzie won the handicap button with a score of 73.1 on a 10.5 handicap, W. Esplin being runner-up with 69 from a 14.5 handicap. LIBERTY LOAN—The urgent appeal for investments in the Liberty Loan had met with a fairly good response at Gore. Up to last evening the total subscribed amounted to £25,541- Of this amount more than £4BOO has been paid in during the last two days, lite sale of bonds, however, has been very poor and so far the total is only £207.,
