ROMMEL ON WAY TO BERLIN

(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, .Feb. 28. The Ankara correspondent of The New York Times reported that FieldMarshal Rommel flew from North Africa to Rome and Vienna this week en route for Berlin, possibly to assume command of the Eastern Front, thereby indicating a change of Axis tactics in the Libyan campaign.

However, foreign military experts in Ankara doubt that Rommel will be transferred to the Russian front. They believe he will participate in the German staff talks at Berlin to which the Nazi High Command has summoned all chiefs of military, naval and air missions throughout Europe. Allied military officials in Ankara are reported to be considerably disturbed over Rommel’s flight.
