Cold and Changeable (Special) WELLINGTON, March 1. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: — Fresh to strong but decreasing west to south-west winds; the weather cool and changeable with further showers. Further outlook: Southerly winds, changeable weather. The weather over the week-end was very boisterous. Saturday afternoon was fine, but late in the evening a strong wind prevailed. Heavy rain fell early on Sunday morning and continued at intervals during the day, setting in steadily in the late afternoon.

The weather at 1 o’clock this morning was cold and heavy rain was falling. The barometer reading was 29.65 in (rising).
