WEATHER FOR FEBRUARY
Rainfall Below The Average February in Invercargill proved a good month for weather until the last few days when strong winds prevailed. Heavy rain showers were experienced and gardens were badly battered by hail. The total rainfall for the month was 2.63 inches compared with 3.20 inches in 1941. The rainfall is nearly half an inch below the average, 3.11. Rain fell on 16 days. The 16th of the month was the sunniest, 13 hours being recorded. The next best day was the 13th, when there were 11.5 hours. The total for the month was 147.31 hours. The maximum temperature, recorded on the 14th, was 79 degrees and the minimum temperature on the grass was recorded on the 23rd, when the reading was 32 degrees. Crops and gardens had been coming along well and good growth had been experienced until the last few days of the month.
