SKILLED LABOUR SHORTAGE
HARVESTING OPERATIONS AFFECTED
A definite shortage of skilled labour for harvesting existed, said Mr S. C. Bingham, State placement officer, yesterday. Because only married men were available the shortage was more severe. There was a demand for skilled farm labour, but very few qualified men were offering. Men who have had previous training in trades and are retired but who are still capable of working at their trades should submit their names to the placement officer, who will keep a list for possible future employment.
