IMPROVEMENTS TO COLLEGE HALL
“We now have an assembly hall, certainly not nearly large enough even for our reduced numbers, but pleasant, airy and bright,” stated a report submitted by the principal of the Southland Technical College, Mr C. A. Stewart, to last night’s meeting of the board. “We are hopeful of effecting an improvement in the acoustic properties, but even now the conditions in this respect are better than before. The hall will be a much more pleasant place for our normal school activities; it will soon be in use also for part of the training of the newly-formed air training corps.” It was hoped that further renovation work would be carried out soon in the Tay street buildings. Other works requiring early attention were trenches and blackouts.
