Mr and Mrs W. Morrison, Dunedin, are spending a holiday at the Rocks. Mrs E. R. Stevens, Tweed street, has left to spend a holiday in Dunedin and Waimate. Mrs D. Simpson, who has been the guest of Mrs W. R. Rea, Pomona street, has returned to Lochiel. Mrs G. Hardie and family have returned to Gore after being the guests of Mr and Mrs J. Chisholm, Myross Bush. Mrs C. R. Story, Venlaw, who has been the guest of her mother, Mrs E. R. Wilson, Russell street, will return home today. Mrs J. Sinton, Mr Ivor Sinton, and Neville and Norris Sinton, who have been staying with Mrs L. A. J. Ryan, Bluff, left yesterday for their home at Ruapapa Station, Wairoa. Mrs W. A. Aitken, Auckland, arrived on Tuesday night to stay with her (parents, Mr and Mrs J. M. McCrostie, Gladstone Terrace, before going to live in Christchurch. She was accompanied by Miss Aldyth McCrostie, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland. Mrs M. McStay, of Anderson’s Bay, Dunedin, and formerly of Invercargill, has received from England news of the engagement of her daughter, Janetta, to Alan James McDonough, of London. Miss McStay -has had an unusually
brilliant career in music. After winning a Royal Academy Scholarship she went at the age of eighteen to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music and there won a further award and high honours. In September of 1939 she was appointed music mistress at St. Swithun’s Girls’ School in Winchester and she is still teaching there as well as assisting in canteen work. Her fiance is at present engaged by the War Department as Assistant Surveyor of Works in the East Sussex Area, in conjunction with the Royal Engineers. It is understood that, although their present plans .are necessarily / indefinite, they hope to come to New Zealand when the war is over. Also it is Miss McStay’s intention to continue with her musical career. RIVERTON Mrs S. Bell, Oxford, is visiting Mrs Price, Delhi street. Mrs J. W. Martin and Miss Maty Martin are spending a holiday at Ohai. Mrs W. Sadlier, Gore, is spending a holiday at the Rocks. Mr and Mrs S. D. Kirkpatrick, Gore, have been staying with Mr and Mrs D. C. Robertson, South Riverton. Miss R. Robertson, South Riverton, is staying with her sister, Mrs S. D. Kirkpatrick, Gore. Mrs A. Chartres and her two sons, Mossbum. were recent guests at the Aparima Hotel. Miss C. Borland is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Borland, Havelock street. I WYNDHAM Mr and Mrs G. W. Stewart, Menzies Ferry, are visiting Dunedin and Timaru. Mrs P. B. Barnett, Malta street, is spending a holiday at Colac Bay and Tuatapere. ' Mr and Mrs D, McCaughan are spending their annual holidays in Dunedin.
