LIMEHILLS

HEADMASTER BIDDEN FAREWELL The Limehills Hall was crowded ■when a social and dance was tendered Mr and Mrs E. Motrin and Miss Kathleen Morrin before their departure to the North Island. During the evening items were given by Miss E. Kettle, Mr J. B. Hamilton, Miss O. Tippett ana Miss T. Leckie. Mr P. Kettle was Master of Ceremonies. The chairman, Mr W. Nicoll, said Mr Morrin had been headmaster at the Limehills School for the past ten years and during that time had been very popular both with the children and the parents. The teaching of a large school required a great deal of tact and Mr Morrin certainly showed his capability in that direction. Mr R. H. Hamilton. referred to the active part Mr Morrin had taken in the affairs of the district, also to Mrs Motrin’s kindness to the school children at all times.

The chairman then asked Mr J. Lindsay to make a presentation. Mr Lindsay said the large gathering of friends present was evidence of the appreciation they wished to show the guests. During his connection with the school they undertook ambitious schemes and carried them out and they were carried on under Mr Morrin. The Limehills school was well looked after and was a credit to the teachers and committee. Thp guests had made themselves very popular both at the school and among the people. In making a presentation of a crystal water set to Mr and Mrs Morrin and a manicure set to Miss’Morrin he conveyed to them the best wishes of Limehills people for their services given to the school and district.

Mr G. Kettle, spoke on behalf of the Limehills Football Club. In asking Mr Motrin’s acceptance of a gift on behalf of the club he wished him good luck and health in the North Island.

Mr Morrin, in reply said they did not need any memento to remind them of their stay in Limehills as it had been very pleasant. He referred to the valuable work that had been carried on by the school committee during the past ten years.
