RIFLE CLUBS OFFER SERVICES

TRAINING OF GUARDSMEN A decision to co-operate fully with the Home Guard in the instruction of guardsmen on the rifle range was made at a meeting last night of the Invercargill and City Guards rifle clubs. The meeting was presided over by Mr A. R. Wills, president of the Invercargill Defence Rifle Club, and Dr A. F. Ritchie Crawford, president of the- National Rifle Association, was also present. Details were drawn up and a deputation, consisting of Messrs W. McChesney, N. McWilliams, and A. R. Wills was appointed to meet representatives of the Home Guard. The two rifle clubs have arranged for 25 members to assist in the work of instruction, and it is hoped that when arrangements have been completed the members of the Home Guard will take part in shooting instruction on Saturday afternoons and evenings. Members of Invercargill women’s miniature rifle clubs have also offered their services if they are required.
