MASONIC GRAND LODGE

ANNUAL COMMUNICATION

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, November 26. According to ancient ceremonial and with the added modern features of impressive and beautiful music, Mr C. L. Mac Diarmid, of Hamilton, was installed at the Town Hall tonight for his second term of office as Grand Master of Freemasonry in New Zealand. This was the culminating point of the fifty-second annual communication of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, which meets in the four centres in rotation. The appointments of high officers who are to support the Grand Master during the coming year were also announced, and their investiture constituted another feature of the proceedings. There was a large gathering of officials of the Grand Lodge, sitting masters and other delegates from the 305 lodges under New Zealand Masonic jurisdiction and local members of the craft. After his installation the Grand Master announced the appointment under his prerogative powers of the following senior officers: —DeputyGrand Master, Mr James McAllister (Stratford); Provincial Grand Masters, Canterbury province, Mr C. S. Thompson; Auckland district, Mr O. Nicholson; Wellington district, Mr S. M. Stone; Otago district, Mi- J. G. Kykes; j Waikato district, Mr A. Bullock; Southland district, Mr A. Noble; Ruapehu district, Mi- J. A. Nash; Hawke’s Bay district, Mr A. W. Parkinson; Nelson and Marlborough district, Mr W. G. Rudd; West Coast district, Mr F. S. Boustridge; Taranaki district, Mr J. C. Barclay; Senior Grand Warden, Mr J. W. Hillary (Christchurch); Junior Grand Warden, Mr S. C. K. Smith (Invercargill); Grand Lecturers, Messrs A. B. Croker (Wellington), R. B. CapeWilliamson (Canterbury), W. A. Waters (Ruapehu), A. Coleman (Taranaki) and S. Cannington (Nelson and Marlborough). Elective officers for the Southland district for the ensuing year were chosen as follows, under the scheme of distribution submitted by the Board of General Purposes: —Senior Grand Deacon, Mr P. Bayne; Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, Mr G. J. Reed; Grand Stewards, Messrs C. J. McEachran and A. L. Kay; member of the Board of General Purposes, Mr A. R. Dickson; member of the Board of Benevolence, Mr W. Robison. Wellington was chosen for the 1942 communication, which will coincide with the celebration of the centenary of Freemasonry in New Zealand.
