INCREASE IN WAGES SOUGHT
HEARING BEGINS TODAY
The hearing by the Court of Arbitration of an application made under the Rates of Wages Emergency Regulations 1940 by the New Zealand Engine Drivers’ Industrial Union of Workers for an increase in wages to meet the increased cost of living will be begun in Wellington today. Any order made by the Court of Arbitration will apply to all awards and industrial agreements in force in New Zealand. Because of this the hearing will be of special interest to all employers and workers covered by awards.
