CLERK FOUND DEAD

(P.A.) TIMARU, November 23. Clifford Dixon, aged about 40, a clerk who is believed to have lived in Masterton, was found dead on Saturday by his host, William John Greathead.

Evidence at the inquest showed that Dixon arrived from Ashburton on Friday and visited Greathead, whom he had not seen fo v many years. The pair went to town and had drinks. As Dixon appeared vgry drunk Greathead procured blankets and a pillow and made Dixon comfortable on the veranda. In the early morning Greathead was unable to rouse Dixon and found he was dead. The Coroner ordered a post-mortem examination.

MAORI DIES OF INJURIES

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, November 23. Following a brawl outside a hotel about 6 p.m. on Saturday, the police found a Maori lying seriously injured on the footpath. He died when being taken to the Auckland Hospital. _ The victim was Dave Repia, aged 21, single, of Auckland. No arrest has been made.

The inquest was adjourned after evidence of identification had been given.

BOY DIES IN , HOSPITAL

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, November 23. A boy died in the Auckland Hospital following injuries suffered when a hay stack fell on him while working at his uncle’s farm at Pukekohe. He was Raymond Archibald Lowrie, aged 10, son of Mrs L. Lowrie, of Pukekohe East. He suffered a severe skull fracture and concussion.
