MR DUFF COOPER IN CHRISTCHURCH

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 23. The Rt. Hon. A. Duff Cooper, British Minister on a special mission to the Far East, and Lady Diana Duff Cooper arrived in Christchurch by air from Auckland yesterday. The aeroplane was delayed by bad weather and at one stage the pilot considered the possibility of having to turn back. However, the journey was continued and escorted by a bomber from Wigram over the last stages the plane landed safely at 2.15 p.m., two hours behind the scheduled time.

Mr Duff Cooper and Lady Diana Duff Cooper spent the week-end as guests of the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall at their Christchurch home. On Saturday evening Mr Duff Cooper and Lady Diana Duff Cooper were given a civic reception. Tomorrow they will leave by air for Wellington, where they will be guests at a State luncheon.
