PRODUCTION OF SILK

Since Japanese supplies of silk have been cut off from the western world, greater interest has been shown in the development of a silk industry in other countries. Silk has actually been produced in Invercargill. Some months ago, Mr E. O. S. Murdoch was given some silk worms which developed and produced beautiful cocoons of silk. The moths which emerged from the cocoons have since laid eggs which will hatch into grubs and in turn form cocoons.
