SPORTS CLUB’S GENEROSITY
Appreciation of the generous action of the Southland Sports Club in subscribing £lB towards the expense of bringing three girls’ baseball teams to Invercargill, two from Dunedin and one from Christchurch was expressed by Mrs M. W. Wilson, physical welfare officer attached to the Department of Internal Affairs in Invercargill. In conveying the thanks of the department to the club, Mrs Wilson stated that it was only by the club’s generosity that the offer of the teams to come to Invercargill to give demonstrations of the game of softball could be accepted. The week-end had been most successful and as the result of the club’s action the game was now becoming well established in Invercargill.
