AIRMAN HONOURED AT CLIFDEN
A social was held in the Clifden hall recently to honour Aircraftman M. D. Knight, who has been spending his leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs D. Knight, Dean Forest. The evening was spent in dancing for which Mr D. Langmuir was master of ceremonies. Solos were sung by Mr A. Henderson (Merrivale). Mrs Butler played the accompaniments. Mr D. O’Brien presented Aircraftman Knight with a wristlet watch from the residents of Clifden, and congratulated him on the step he had taken. Messrs Skipworth (R.S.A.) and Dixon also spoke. On behalf of the women of the district Mrs W. Fowle presented Aircraftman Knight with a parcel of knitted comforts. Aircraftman Brown (Otautau) was also present.
