WOMAN’S BODY FOUND
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 13. The uncovered body of a widowed woman was found washed up on the rocks at the southern end of Miritai, Eastbourne, this afternoon. She was Mrs Isabella Jones, aged 48, of Petone. Reports were received by the Petone police at 8 o’clock this morning that Mrs Jones was missing from her home. It is believed she left her- home clothed in a dressing gown, which apparently was washed off by the rough sea. Mrs Jones, it is understood, had been ill for some time. She had undergone one operation and was about to undergo another.
WORKMAN’S FATAL FALL (P.A.) PALMERSTON North, Nov. 13. While painting a large oil tank at Kelvin Grove, near the city boundary, two men fell about 25 feet. One died on the way to hospital. The other is in hospital. The dead man is believed to be A. Stewart, of Wellington. His companion was Norman Crawford. BABY DIES SUDDENLY An infant, William Robert Young, aged 11 weeks, son of Mr Sandford Robert Young, of Ythan street, Invercargill, died suddenly yesterday. At an inquest yesterday afternoon, the Coroner (Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M.) ordered a post-mortem examination. After evidence of identification had been given the hearing was adjourned sine die. CUTS ON HEAD Cuts on the head were suffered by Miss Emily Webb, aged 68, of Newcastle street, Invercargill, yesterday. She was papering a wall when, a bath, which was hanging on the wall, fell and hit her. She was admitted to the Southland Hospital at Kew, where her condition last night was reported to be satisfactory.
