PRESENTATIONS FROM THEATRE STAFFS

MR AND MRS H. C. OLSEN HONOURED Mr H. C. Olsen, manager of the State and Civic Theatres, Invercargill, was, with Mrs Olsen, the guest of honour at functions held by the staffs of the two theatres on Saturday night. Mr Olsen has been appointed manager of the Crystal Palace Theatre, Christchurch. At a gathering of the State Theatre staff, Miss Sheila Mahoney referred to the cordial relations that had existed between the staff and Mr Olsen and wished him success in his new sphere. On behalf of the staff she presented Mr and Mrs Olsen with a handsome crystal bowl and silver servers. Later in the evening the staff of the Civic Theatre entertained Mr and Mrs Olsen. The presentation of a silver spirit kettle was made by Mrs C. Pascoe, who referred to the pleasure with which the staff had worked under Mr Olsen and to the esteem in which Mrs Olsen was held. Other speakers were Messrs J. Gilligan, house-manager, J. Matheson, D. Reid and J. Harry. At both functions Mr Olsen praised the excellent work of the staffs of the two theatres and thanked them for their gifts and good wishes.
