HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS
Rain Interferes With Programme Rain interfered with the annual sports of the Southland Boys’ High School held at the school grounds yesterday and it was not possible to complete the programme. The handicap events were decided last week and most of the races that were run yesterday were championship events. The remainder of the events, including the competition between present pupils and old boys for the Christophers Shield, will be decided at a later date. The record fox’ the 220 yards intermediate championship was broken during the afternoon, but it could not be allowed because of a strong following wind. The winner, J. Pettigrew, ran a strong race and clipped two-fifths of a second off the existing record. The other events created much interest, but conditions were most unpleasant.
