CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS
SHOPS TO OBSERVE FOUR DAYS BOTH WEEKS Four full days holiday in Christmas week and again in New Year week will be observed by shops and offices in Invercargill. The Clerical Workers’, Grocery Workers’ and Shop Assistants’ Unions have come to an agreement with the employers concerned to forgo picnic day, which would otherwise have been held in January. In place of this holiday, Saturday morning, December 27, and the following Saturday morning, January 3, will be holidays. This means that the employees will be off from Wednesday night, Christmas Eve, to the Monday morning and in the following week for the corresponding period.
