FORMS DISTRIBUTED TO DOCTORS

MEDICAL PRACTITIONER SERVICE (Special) AUCKLAND, October 22. In preparation for the inauguration on November 1 of the general medical practitioner service under the recentlypassed Social Security Amendment Act, forms have been printed and are being distributed to doctors and medical officers of health, according to a statement made by the Minister of Health (the Hon. A. H, Nordmeyer). The Minister explained that, under the Act, the doctor’s claim for 7/6 for each consultation or ordinary visit could be made direct to the Government, or he could charge the patient, who could apply for a refund. Mr Nordmeyer added that the forms now printed would cover either case. “Regulations setting out various matters of detail in connection with the scheme will be gazetted this week,” Mr Nordmeyer added. “After they have been passed by the Executive Council a full statement will be made concerning the public’s responsibilities and privileges under the Act.”
