The Hon. T. F. Doyle, M.L.C., returned from Wellington by yesterday afternoon’s express. Inspector D. J. O’Neill, who has been relieving at Invercargill as officer in charge of the Southland police district, left by yesterday afternoon’s express for Dunedin. Mr G. W. Hubbard, who has been superintendent of the A.M.P. Society for Southland for three and a-half years, has received advice of his transfer to Dunedin as senior superintendent and will leave Invercargill shortly. Mr W. G. Nield, district organizer of the National Savings campaign, will leave by the express tomorrow for Paeroa, North Island. He will be absent for about two weeks. Mr V. R. Jackson, of Invercargill, will leave for Levin on Sunday to join the Air Force. His brother, Corporal D. D. Jackson, was recently promoted to his present rank and transferred from Sockbum to Auckland. Flying Officer F. J. E. Baillie, formerly of the staff of the Southland Boys’ High School, has been promoted flight lieutenant, states the Gazette. .
