MARIST CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING
A call to old members to rally round the club and fill up the gaps caused by the loss of younger men who were going into camp was given by the president of the Marist Cricket Club (the Rev. Father J. Murphy) at the club’s annual meeting last night. Father Murphy said that a good deal of equipment would have to be purchased this year. The ground had been drainploughed and was expected to be in good order for the season. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A cup given by the Marist Brothers for the third grade player who showed most improvement and who had given the most valuable services to the club during the past season was presented by Father Murphy to Kevin Donaldson. Opening day was fixed for October 4. It was left in the hands of the executive to arrange friendly matches for the senior and junior teams for October 11, the week before the competitions start. Office-bearers were elected as follows:—Patron, the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Howard; president, the Rev. Father J. Murphy; vice-presidents, the Rev. Fathers Gavan, McGettigan and Sexton, the Rev. Brother Augustine, Messrs W. Stapleton, J. P. Butler, G. T. Martin, R. Timpany, F. G. McGoldrick, F. G. O’Beirne, R. Taylor, F. St. J. Loughnan, T. Baird and M. O’Brien; club captain, Mr W. Lavelle; secretary, Mr T. N. Forde; treasurer, Mr L. Connolly; auditor, Mi’ A. T. Walsh.
