WRESTLING
MEEHAN AND SINGH DRAW (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 22. A professional wrestling contest between Pat Meehan (America) and Jaget Singh (India) resulted in a draw, each man obtaining a fall. Singh gained the first fall in the fourth round with a submission to an Indian deathlock. Meehan evened the falls in the seventh round with a body press after he had connected to his opponent’s chin twice in succession with dropkicks. It was a bright and spectacular bout. ATKINS BEATS CORBETT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 22. In a professional wrestling bout crowded with action in every round, Fred Atkins beat Joe Corbett by two falls to one. Corbett, adopting Atkins’s bad man role, started off with a battery of elbow jolts and flying tackles which completely stole the Australian’s thunder. Both exploited a wide variety of holds and moved exceptionally fast for big men. Corbet took a fall with a body press in the fourth round. Atkins evened in the sixth with a flying body scissors and won with a press in the next round.
