EXCURSION TRAINS FROM DUNEDIN

MANY VISITORS HEAR BAND CONCERT IN GARDENS Excursion trains from Dunedin brought 600 visitors to Invercargill yesterday. Two trains were run and both carried full complements of passengers, 270 persons arriving on the first train and 320 on the second. The day was beautifully fine in the city and the visitors were able to have an enjoyable outing. Many of them spent the afternoon in the Rose Gardens, where a concert was given by the Battalion Band. The band, under the conductorship of Lieutenant A. McMaster, played a pleasing selection of music to one of the largest crowds seen in the Rose Gardens for some time. Following was the programme presented by the band:—“Gippsland,” “Queen o’ The North” and “Old Faithful” (marches), “Maritana” selection, “Three Blind Mice” (descriptive piece) and a hymn.
