CLEARING OF GORSE

The necessity for clearing gorse from private properties if rabbits are to be exterminated is pointed out by the Woodlands Rabbit Board in a letter it has sent to certain ratepayers. The letter, a copy of which vas received by the Southland County Council at its meeting yesterday, stated: “Members of the board feel that if the gorse were removed, or even burnt, it would be a great assistance to the board in its efforts to exterminate the rabbits. The board seeks your co-operation in dealing with the gorse on your property and thinks that it would also be a help if the swamps were burnt.” The council referred the letter to the county inspector.
