White, Winton, who has been visiting Queenstown, returns home today. Miss N. Carter, Pukekohe East, is at present visiting Miss J. Pack, Tay street. Miss L. B. McConachie, Kelvin street, has returned from a holiday spent in Queenstown. The Hon. Adam Hamilton and Mrs Hamilton leave by this morning’s express for the north. Miss M. I. Lousley, Don street, who has been spending a holiday in Queenstown, returns home today. Mrs G. Allen, who has been the guest of Mrs J. W. Hunt, Islington street, will return to Dunedin today. Mr and Mrs S. P. Girdwood, Harewood Court Flats, who have been visiting Dunedin, have returned home.

Mrs T. W. Barr Stoddart, Don street, gave a children’s party yesterday for the birthday of her small daughter, Gretchen Ann.

Miss Jean Stewart, Waverley, who has been the guest of Miss Jean Cockerill, Newcastle street, has returned home.

Mrs G. M. Broughton, Duke street, returns tomorrow night from a visit to her mother, Mrs W. Leversedge, Christchurch.

Miss Thelma Strang, who spent the school holidays with her parents, Mr and Mi’s J. F. Strang, Yarrow street, has returned to Auckland.

Mrs T. Wray Wilson, Avenal Flats, who has been the guest of Mrs W. E. Cunningham, Castle Downs, has returned to town.

Mrs W. H. Ferens, Dunedin, who has been staying for the past few months with her daughter, Mrs G. R. Milward, Duke street, returns home today.

Mrs W. J. Barclay, Don street, leaves tomorrow night for a short visit to Timaru. Later she will spend a holiday in Wellington, Palmerston North and Taranaki.

Mrs A. B. Macdonald, Auckland, and Mrs P. Plaice Gardiner, Wellington, who have been spending a holiday with Mrs G. R. Milward, Duke street, leave today for a visit to Dunedin before returning home.

The women’s committee of St. Andrew’s Scottish Society held a card evening at Mrs J. Millar’s home, Spey street, on Thursday. A competition was won by Miss Elder. A donation of 20/6 was handed to the Red Cross Society.

Mrs T. M. Timpany, Don street, gave a party at her home on Thursday night for her daughter, Miss Mary Timpany. Miss Audrey Sloan presented the guest of honour with a shoulder spray. The evening was spent in games and dancing. Miss Timpany, who has been on the staff of the Invercargill Telephone Exchange for the past three years, has now resigned. Others who entertained Miss Timpany during the week were Miss Audrey Sloan and Miss Mavis McKenzie.
