RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION

PROPOSED CHANGE OF NAME Local branches of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association are to be requested to reconsider the question of changing the association's name. This decision was made by the Dominion executive at a recent meeting, after consideration of the views expressed by other organizations, coupled with a request from two affiliated branches.

Apparently naval and air force men have in some cases interpreted the decision not to change the name as an indication that the R.S.A. was foi soldiers only. This, it is stated, is definitely wrong, as all branches of the services are represented among members and in executive positions. The associations now urging reconsideration feel that the name should indicate all tho'se entitled to membership. All branches are to be requested to express their opinions on the proposal. The initials N.Z.R.S.A. are to be retained, the suggested titles being either Services or Servicemen’s Association.
