SURGEON KILLED IN CRETE
MAJOR JOHN PLIMMER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 28. News has been received of the death in Crete of Major John Plimmer, N.Z.M.C. It states that he was operating on wounded New Zealanders in a Crete hospital when a high explosive bomb struck the building and blew it up. Major Plimmer, who was in practice in Wellington, was one of the first, to volunteer for service when war was declared. He leaves a widow, formerly Miss Leah Burt, of Dunedin, and three children.
