DEATH FROM FOOD POISONING

THREE OTHER SUFFERERS IN HOSPITAL

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 27. Suffering from some form of food poisoning, four employees of the Westfield Freezing Company’s works were taken suddenly ill at the works shortly

before 2 o’clock this morning. After being attended by a doctor they were sent to hospital in an ambulance. On the way to the hospital George Matthews, aged 25, a married man residing in the city, died.

The others are Edmund Tetai, aged 26, of Ponsonby; J. G. Cullen, aged 42, of Newton; and Leonard Grundy, aged 40, of Parnell. They were treated in the casualty department. It is thought that the men might have drunk soup from a cooking urn. The police and the Health Department are investigating.
