WOMEN’S PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE Mrs Cameron presided at a meeting of the Women’s Patriotic Committee. It was decided that two members m turn help in the supper arrangements at the girls’ fortnightly dances. The secretary made an appeal for reels or machine cotton, black and white, tor the Lady Galway Guild. It was decided to hold the next meeting on June 3 instead of June 2. Mrs Cameron referred to the departure or Mrs Fisher from Bluff and it was decided to place on record appreciation of Mrs Fisher’s good, work while a member of the committee. Mrs Cameron said it was her duty to relinquish the chair of office to the new Mayoress, Mrs McGorlick. She referred to the pleasant associations Muring her term as president and in thanking the members for their cooperation asked them to extend that i co-operation to Mrs McGorlick. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs Cameron for her services. Gifts were acknowledged from Mrs R. Ashwell and Mrs Bagley (Dunedin) and Mrs L. Newman. ST. MATTHEW’S GUILD At a recent meeting of St. Matthew s Guild, Mrs Burtenshaw referred to the departure of Mrs Fisher and in presenting her with a bouquet of flowers asked her to accept the thanks of the guild for her good work and their best wishes for a happy time in Palmerston North.
