CAR LEAVES ROAD

ACCIDENT AT MATAURA An accident occurred in Main street, Mataura, on Tuesday when a car driven by Mr F. A. Reay, of Invercargill, left the road and crashed into the railway fence. The vehicle came to rest after three posts had been knocked down. At the time of the accident snow was falling and the bitumen surface was slippery. Mr S. M. Macalister, of Invercargill, was following Reay’s car and he pulled up to give assistance. Another car, driven by Mr J. Kirby, of Wyndham, was also proceeding towards Gore and the driver apparently failed to notice the stationary vehicle belonging to Mr Macalister and crashed into the rear of it, causing some damage and pushing it across the. road. Kirby was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Mrs Kirby received cuts on the head and was conveyed to the Gore Hospital for treatment. BOY FALLS FROM CYCLE Master Patrick Waddick, of 130 Janet street, Invercargill, fell from a bicycle yesterday and injured his hand. He was admitted to the Kew Hospital.
