DECISION ON EXPORT POLICY WANTED
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 20. A plea to the Government to make a decision about the export of perishable produce this year was made by Mr W. W. Mulholland, Dominion president, at the Auckland Farmers’ Union conference. “The most important point,” he said, “is what is the Government’s policy about payment for produce next year. That decision could be made now.”
It should be realized that it was impossible to maintain productive capacity unless the income of the farmers was sufficient, hence production depended on financial policy. In such a crisis prompt decisions would never be made by a party Government, which needed to consider the effect of its decision on party members.
