MAGISTRATE’S COURT

MONDAY

(Before Mr J. D. Campbell, J.P.)

Ewart Noel McLennan, aged 33, labourer, of Otatara, was charged with forging the name of Victor Aicken to a withdrawal slip at the Invercargill Savings Bank for £26.

Detective T. Smith asked for a remand until next Monday. He said a number of other charges would be preferred and the police would be ready to proceed then. The remand was granted.

The accused asked for bail and the suppression of his name. Detective Smith said the police did not oppose bail, but it should be substantial as about £l3O was involved.

Bail was granted in accused’s own recognisance of £l5O and two sureties of £l5O. No order was made for suppression of his name.-
