WAIAU DOG TRIALS

PROVINCIAL TITLES DECIDED Tlie annual Waiau dog trials were held on the property of Mr P. Gardner on. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in fine weather. The events, in which a high standard was reached, were completed in fine weather and the entries were good. Mr John Scott was the judge. The Southland championshipe were run in conjunction with the trials, the leading dog in each event running' off for the respective championships. The results are as follows:—

LOCAL HEAD. Distance, 400 yards. Time, Bmin. Total points 60 (eight entries). —R. McLee’s Pat (50pts) 1. M. L. Mouatt’s Gift 2, R. Gardner’s Crib 3.

MAIDEN HEAD. Points and time the same as in first event. —H. A. Robertson’s Black (51pts) 1, R. McLees’s Pat (50pts) 2, M. L. Mouatt’s; Gift and NJ McGregor’s Dick (49pts) equal 3. HEAD, PULL AND HOLD IN RING. Time, lOmin. Total points 60. Distance, 500 yards (36 entries). —J. A. Nelson’s Ben (56pts) 1, J. B. Queale’s Roy (52pts) and J. B. Queale’s Bess (52pts)' equal 2, E. P.
