The Invercargill Fire Brigade received a call at 2.30 a.m. yesterday to 502 Tweed street east, where a five-roomed wooden dwelling was on fire. The house was an old one with shingle roofing under the iron and was well alight when the brigade was called. The house was almost totally destroyed. It was not occupied at the time, the occupier, Mr Ivan Rask, being absent. The cause of the outbreak is not known.
