POLICE OFFICERS IN BALLOT

ADJOURNMENT OF APPEALS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 28. The need for State departments to indicate how long reservists had been in their employ was stressed by the chairman of the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board, Mr H. S. Orr Walker, when sine die exemption was sought for 20 police officers in Auckland on the ground of public interest. The chairman said there was no reason to doubt the bona tides of the cases, but corroborative evidence should be tendered.

The board adjourned the appeals sine die on the certificate of the Director of National Service, subject to proof being submitted that the reservists had been in the employ of the Police Department for an appreciable time.
