SUM OF £45,000 IN SIGHT
Radio And Telephone Appeal
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 28. The latest indications are that the radio and telephone appeal for the patriotic funds on Anzac night will produce a total of about £45,000, which is regarded as a splendid result. Apart from the co-operation received from the public and the splendid contribution made by voluntary workers up and down the Dominion in receiving and recording donations as they were given by subscribers over the telephone, there were other gratifying features of the appeal. One was a contribution to the funds from outside the Dominion; it came from the Kermadec Islands. The amount was over £5O, representing the result of a tarpaulin muster. The payments to date show that besides those who used the telephone on Anzac night to advise their contributions, there were others who did not ring up their donations. Among such contributors today was an elderly man who gave £5.
