INVERCARGILL CLUB

Members of the Invercargill Defence Rifle Club on Saturday afternoon fired a match for a trophy presented by W. Milley. ‘ The weather was good and the scoring was high. W. Milley, who was not competing for the trophy, made th_e fine score of 102 out of the possible 105, a splendid effort. This was the best aggregate for the day. L. R. Lyall and R. B. Wood also shot well for 100 each. J. Keelty, who was next with 99, was also in good form. At 300 yards J. Clark with 5 4 5 5 5 5 5—34 was top. After counting out N. McWilliams, R. B. Wood and W. Milley, who also made 34 each. At 500 yards Milley made the possible 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 —35 and headed the list. Keelty, Clark and L. R. Lyall were next witn 34 each. At 600 yards R. B. Wood with 5 4 4 5 5 5 5—33 ■ minted out Milley, Mrs Lyall and L. R. Lyall who also made 33 each, for pride of place. The trophy was won by L. R. Lyall who made 100, plus two points handicap 102. R. B. Wood, J. Keelty and W. D. Henderson also reached 102 with their handicaps, but Lyall won c»n the count out. The winner of the Boyce Button for best score at 300 and 500 yards was W Milley with 69. Next Saturday the club will compete for the McKenzie Challenge Shield and Wakatipu Cup to be shot at Gore. Saturday’s full scores are: —
