EXCESS PROFITS TAX
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 21. Replying in the House of Representatives to an urgent question asked by Mr W. S. Goosman (Nat, Waikato), the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) said it was still the Government’s intention to carry on with the introduction of an excess profits tax. The Minister said that although the nroposed arrangements were not yet finally determined the present intention was that the tax should apply to incomes derived during the current year from April 1 and during future years. The proposals would be included in the draft legislation to be placed before the House at an early date.
