PATRIOTIC CONCERT
SUBSTANTIAL SUM RAISED FOR FUNDS A concert given by St. Catherine’s ex-pupils and the boys of the Marist School, attracted a large attendance last night. The concert, which was held in aid of the patriotic funds, provided excellent entertainment and a substantial sum was raised. The first part of the programme was given by the pupils of the Marist school and was as follows: Medley of folk' songs, the school; songs, school choir; monologue, Kevin Reidy (Uriah Heep), Rex Ferry (the grandfather of Little Nell), Bernard Block (Sydney Carton); gymnastic display, Forms I and II; verse speaking, standards 111 and IV; medley of Scottish songs, school choir; song, “Waltzing Matilda,” Misses Flower McKay and Sunny McKay and Master Paul Nutsford; maze drill, Standards 111 and IV; mock court, judge, David Pottinger, two lawyers, M. O’Neill and A. Waddick, policeman, Kevin Forde, prisoners, Paul Nutsford, J. O’Brien and A. Traynor. The second part of the programme, which was given by St. Catherine’s Ex-Pupils’ Association, was as follows: Two songs by the glee party; pianoforte duet, Misses Marie Searle and Mary
Fitzgerald; character sketch, “BedTime Stories,” Miss M. Fitzgerald; song and dance, Miss J. Lewis and pupils; song, Miss Joan Ward; sketch, Misses A. Hoffman and S. Lilley.
