FORMATION OF WAR CABINET
“WILL BE WELCOMED BY WHOLE COUNTRY” (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, July 17. Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, has sent the following letter to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser): — “On behalf of the commercial community of New Zealand I desire to express their appreciation of the Government’s action in setting up a War Cabinet—a Cabinet which also includes representation of the official Opposition. We are sure this decision will be welcomed by the whole country and we have no doubt that the results obtained will fully justify the step that has been taken. We hope that this action will be the forerunner, as soon as opportunity permits, to the formation of a national Government along the lines we requested at the deputation to you from the Associated Chambers on May 27.”
