EDUCATION BOARD NOMINATIONS
THREE CANDIDATES NOT OPPOSED
The nominations of Messrs L. S. Alsweiler, W. Excell, and S. Rice were the only ones received for the Invercargill urban area and the west and east wards respectively in the Southland Education Board’s district yesterday when nominations closed and these candidates were declared elected by the returning officer (Mr H. T. Thompson). For- the central ward, Messrs W. Bell and A. E. Cocker were nominated and an election will be held on Wednesday, July 17. Voting papers will be forwarded by post to the chairmen of school committees in this ward.
Messrs Alsweiler, Bell, Excell and Rice were the retiring members this year for the Invercargill urban area, and the central, west and east wards respectively.
