INTEREST IN GAME TROPHIES
SOUTHLAND RECEPTION ROOM AT EXHIBITION The interest which was displayed in the Southland reception room at the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition was described by the manager of the room (Mr C. S. Mackay), at the social evening held by the Southland members of the New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association last night. Introducing Mr Mackay, the Dominion president (Dr G. B. Orbell), said that he had given the province and, what was of particular interest to deerstalkers, its potentialities as hunting ground, a fine advertisement. Mr Mackay said that great interest had been taken in the game trophies which formed part of the Southland display. “It is not egotistic to say that the best known provincial room in the exhibition was the Southland room,” he said. More than 10,000 persons had signed the visitors’ book and as many more had seen the display. The great interest taken was largely due to the magnificent game trophies and for these the deerstalkers were responsible. On behalf of the Southland Court Committee he thanked the association for the assistance given in securing the trophies.
