TABLE TENNIS The fortnightly table tennis tournament conducted under the auspices of the Anglican Ladies’ Guild was held in the Memorial hall. Results:— WOMEN’S SECTION First round.—Miss E. Osborne (plus 3) beat Miss D. Scobie (plus 3), 22-20; Miss R. Wilson (minus 10) beat Mrs H. Horrell (minus 3), 21-14; Miss L. Osborne (scr) lost to Miss F. Liddell (plus 5); Miss L. Bennett (plus 4) lost to Miss B. Horrell (minus 1), 9-21; Miss A. Lush (plus 4) beat Miss R. Witting (plus 6), 21-14. Second round.—Miss E. Osborne beat Miss R. Wilson, 21-12; Miss B. Horrell lost to Miss F. Liddell, 15-21; Miss A. Lush a bye. Semi-final.—Miss E. Osborne beat Miss A. Lush, 21-16. Final. —Miss F. Liddell beat Miss E. Osborne, 21-19. MEN’S SECTION First round.—J. Pringle (plus 5) beat E. Nixon (plus 3), 21-15; T. Ryan (plus 4) beat G. Coutts (plus 7), 21-15; F Birchall (minus 3) beat W. Dwyer (plus 1), 21-14; L. Sutherland (plus 3) beat R. Humphreys (plus 6), 22-20; W. Liddell (scr) beat L. Osborne (plus 11), 21-6; D. Higgins (minus 6) beat Rutter (plus 4), 21-16. Second round.—F. Birchall beat L. Sutherland, 21-10; D. Higgins beat W. I Liddell, 21-5; M. Lush (plus 2) beat F. Richmond (plus 5), 21-17. Semi-final.—J. Pringle beat F. Birchall, 23-21; M. Lush lost to D. Higgins, 14-21. Final.—D. Higgins beat J. Pringle, 2113. BROWNS PATRIOTIC CONCERT A concert staged by the Limehills Drama Club was held in the Browns hall. The proceeds are to go to the Browns Patriotic Fund, bringing the total to approximately £l5O. Plays presented by the Limehills Drama Club were:—“Something to Talk About,” “Fame and Glory,” “Playgoers,” and “Beauty for Sale.” Local artists who assisted were Miss I. Wilson, bagpipe selections, Mr R. Hinkley, songs, and Miss Shirley Harvey, Highland dances. Mrs R. Young was the accompanist.
